Roberto Paiva is an economist (Mackenzie), with an MBA in Marketing from Insper and an Executive MBA from Brazilian Business School. He spent more than two decades on the other side of the counter: Commercial Superintendent for Mortgage, Vehicle, Used Car and Truck Credit at Itaú Unibanco, and Regional Commercial Manager at Banco Fiat.
That experience makes a difference when building your plan. Roberto knows how banks calculate interest, insurance and total cost, so he shows with clear numbers when an Ademicon consórcio is the cheapest way to buy property, change cars or expand your business.

A consórcio is a Brazilian pooled purchase plan: a group of people pays monthly installments into a common fund, and each month some members are awarded the credit to buy their asset. It pays off if you can plan ahead. Since there is no interest, the total paid is usually much lower than with financing. On a R$ 500,000 property, the estimated difference is over R$ 700,000. If you need the asset right away and cannot bid, financing may make more sense. Roberto shows you both paths.
Every month the group holds a meeting where shares are awarded by draw and by bid. Whoever is awarded receives the credit letter and can buy the asset. Nobody can promise the award date.
A bid is an advance payment of installments that increases your chance of being awarded. With an embedded bid, when the group allows it, you use part of your own credit letter to place the bid, without paying out of pocket.
For a property consórcio, yes. FGTS (the Brazilian severance fund) can be used to place a bid, top up the purchase or pay down the balance, following Caixa’s rules for using the fund.
The installment is adjusted once a year to keep up with the asset’s value. Property follows the INCC index and the other segments follow INPC. No interest is charged.
Brazil’s consórcio law (Law 11,795/2008) guarantees the refund of what you paid into the common fund when the cancelled share is drawn or when the group closes, minus the deductions set out in the contract.
